NOTE: Blogspot has recently changed the default when you click on blogspot-hosted images so that they open in a viewer that doesn't easily allow for zooming in on oversized images, at least on my machine/browser. This kind of defeats the purpose of these posts. The easy way around that is to right click (control click on a mac) and choose open link in new browser or new tab in the drop down menu that appears.

  1. The mandolin player on this great recording is the late Mr. Johnnie E. Hutto. from Bluff City, Tennessee and Headland, Alabama. Johnnie. Hutto played mandolin during 1961 and 1962 on the Grand Old Opry with Fiddler Curley Fox and his wife Texas Ruby. He also played in several Class "B" Cowboy movies with the late Movie Star Lash LaRu. Johnnie was well known for his famous F-5 THE HUTTO mandolins, which he built up until his death on Saturday, 30 October 2004. Johnnie played with David Lambeth and the High Lonesome Ramblers while he lived in the Salem/Roanoke, Virginia Area and recorded in the mid 1970's with them. Johnnie relocated to Augusta, GA and lived for a few years. and building his F5 HUTTO mandolins. Later he would relocate to Bluff City, TN where he lived and built mandolins until his untimely death. Johnnie was also a great mandolin player and tenor singer and is missed by his family, friends and Bluegrass Pickers throughout the world.. RIP Johnnie.
